Gable settings

These controls let you define settings for gables.

Access these settings via Env Data > Dialogs > Gable. To learn about these settings on the Gable dialog, see Create Gables.

Field Descriptions
Setting Description

Is gable Structural?

 True activates the Structural Gable check box on the Gable dialog. This enables structural gable trusses with diagonal webs and vertical studs at specified on-center spacing. Horizontal studs can be specified in the Horizontal Girts box, but will override vertical studding.
LetIn size Define default size of let-in gable
LetIn StartX, -100 = to heel Location at which to start let-ins
LetIn StopX, -100 = Full Location at which to stop let-ins
Drop TC size Define default size of drop top chord
Drop TC StartX - 100 = to end of OHs Location at which to start drop top chord on overhangs. This setting is currently disabled on the Gable dialog.
Drop TC StopX - 100 = Full, - 200 = Piggyback Location at which to stop the drop top chord

Stud size

 

 

 Material size for gable studs

Stud spacing

 Define the spacing between studs
Min stud length

Lumber material size if a slider member is used

Studdingdirection

 Direction of gable studs

Stud Horz Placement

 Default placement of horizontal stud. Can be left, right, or center.

Louver - None / Triangle / Rectangle

Louver choice options are None, Triangular, and Rectangular

Louver - double (rectangular Louver)

Dimension for double/rectangular louver

Louver - horz dim

Horizontal dimension for louver

Louver - vert dim (rectangular louver)

Vertical dimension for rectangular louver

Louver - clearance

 Horizontal and vertical dimension to hold louver wider for clearance for installation

Louver - horz offset; -999 = 'Center'

Value to offset a rectangular louver from the left heel of truss to the center of the louver

Louver - Vert offset; -999 = 'Top'

Value to offset a rectangular louver from the normal plate height of the bottom chord of the truss to the bottom of the louver opening

Allow structural webs to be spread for louvers

 Select this option to spread structural webs and make additional room for structural gables. When True, the application creates the louver space by removing any structural webs that are in the way, creates the louver members, and stitches or re-webs structural members to the louver verticals.

Sheathing - type

 Select sheathing material, if applicable; options are None, OSB, or CDX.

Sheathing - thickness

 Sheathing thickness for material; Minimum is 00-06, Maximum is 01-00.

Sheathing - Where to apply?

 Side of truss on which to apply sheathing; choices are Front, Back or Both.

Add Brg under BC Zone

 True activates the Add Brg under BC Zone check box; this adds bearing to bottom chord zone to apply bearing to specified dimensions; false will not apply bearing.

Show hatching on sheathing

Display hatching on gable sheathing. Note that if you set this to False, hatching will still show on-screen, but will be eliminated from output truss graphics.

 

Distance between hatching lines

 Select the distance between hatching lines

Thickness of hatching lines on output drawings

 Select thickness of hatching lines as they display on output
